I met the multi-talented Casey Haina last week, and in talking with her this week, discovered that she was not even allowed to be in the chorus of any of Barrington High School's musicals! What a waste of talent.
The other equally talented performing artist was Allyson Thompson, daughter of Julie and Jim, who started her acting career around the age of five, her mother being a driving force in the Gilbert and Sullivan Troupe from Winnetka, IL. Allyson could do it all, dance, sing, tech, etc. But, she was not favored by the powers that be.
Same thing happened at New Trier, where Greg Kunkel's largest son (6' 4", 240) caught 11 passes as a junior, and ran 7 of them in for touchdowns, and returned kick offs, and played middle linebacker. He could run the 40 yard dash, in full equipment, in 4.8 seconds.
FORTUNATELY, BravoBarrington needs all the talent it can get (and it has a ton of it) and Casey WILL be given solos!
Anyway, we had a GREAT rehearsal this week, with the music director being done with her graduations and the accompanist able to focus on accompanying.
Good Lord, I wish it was Tuesday night, 7:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. 24/7!
